The client seen in these photos was referred by a podiatrist with
written permission and a directive concerning receiving a prosthetic
nail. The directive/permission is kept on file and each visit is
documented in detail. If there are changes from normal in the client's
skin/nails the client is referred back to the physician and the changes
are communicated in a call or fax.
Cosmetic nails without former pathologies do not require permission from a podiatrist/physician.
All formerly pathologic nails require a referral from a podiatrist or
physician with written permission and a directive concerning the
receipt of a prosthetic nail. The existing nail must be stated as
non-pathogenic by the referring podiatrist/physician to receive the
nail. A 'before' picture is taken and kept on file
with referrals/directives from the referring
physician/podiatrist with documentation in detail of visits. With any
change from normal in the client's skin and/or nails the client is
referred back to and a call is made to the podiatrist/physician by the
MNT concerning the visual changes.
